Questions and answers
- How do I make a map of the countries I’ve visited?
- Click each country you’ve been to on the globe above and it’s marked visited. You can switch it to lived or wishlist. It’s free and you don’t need an account to start; create one to save your map and open it on any device.
- How many countries are there in the world?
- There are 193 UN member states and 2 observer states (Vatican City and Palestine). Many travellers also count Taiwan, Kosovo and Western Sahara, so VisitedAtlas counts 198 countries, plus 41 territories such as Greenland and Puerto Rico. Your stats show both counts.
- Is VisitedAtlas free?
- Yes. The map, statistics, states, cities and trips are all free.
- Is my map private?
- Yes. There are no public profiles or feeds: only you can see your map. You can export your data at any time.
- Can I track states and cities, not just countries?
- Yes. After signing in, turn on about 4,600 states and provinces and thousands of cities, or drop your own pins on the map.
- What is a digital scratch map?
- It’s the digital version of a scratch-off poster: instead of scratching a country, you click it and it fills with colour. It can’t get lost, it comes with you on every device, and it shows statistics too.
